So....long time no post, eh flist? *awkward wave* I haven't had too much fandom energy lately, but I heart you all and I'm trying to delurk a bit.

Basically, it's been an awful long time since I wasn't in a big active fandom. Apparently, when this happens, I just start reading and watching INCREDIBLY RANDOM CRAP FROM SHOWS I DON'T WATCH/FANDOMS I'M NOT IN. CONSIDER THIS THE FIRST RANDOM POST OF MANY:

I've totally failed at lj all week, so sorry if I've missed anything. I'm going to try to catch up now, but as I will inevitably miss stuff, how are you doing, my darlings?


And guess what? I've changed my layout yet again, because merihn is AWESOME AND MADE ME A MORGANA HEADER AND ICONS AND LOOK HOW PRETTY IT IS. *hugs her tight*

Because her awesomeness knows no bounds, she also made some wallpapers and even more icons and headers, which she has up in her journal here for one and all to admire. SO PRETTY!



Also, reel_merlin posting starts tomorrow! Eep! Have to get on the ball about that.

I've decided to try this as a list this time:

1. I am behind on soooo many things, including my flist, my Netflix, my laundry, and my plans for catching up on BSG before the finale. I also somehow haven't managed to watch the last half of Being Human 1.02, despite having watched the first half days ago.


2. I have, however, managed to watch 1.01-1.08 of Skins. Loving it so much so far! Where does the fandom hang out? (Also, is it just me or is Tony/Sid/Michelle a fucked up OT3 of awesome?)


3. I got a new layout! And a paid account, with more icon space than I can handle. (There is a disproportionate amount of Merlin ones. Especially Morgana icons. I NEED HELP.)


4. On an unrelated note of TOTAL FAIL: Seriously???? Normally I can put PeTA in the "well intentioned but kind of crazy" box, but that totally crosses the line.


5. There's another addition to the discussion about that thingswithwings post over at mecurtin's here that's worth checking out if you're following it.


6. reel_merlin posting week is coming up really soon! (And since I'm not writing anything I can say that without a trace of panic or OHGODWHATWASITHINKING??) *bounces* (ETA: Posting is extended!)

That Which Binds by lavvyan

This is lavvyan's entry for today for 14_valentines. I read it early this morning and it's still sticking with me. lavvyan takes the (perhaps?) inevitable fall of Camelot and turns it on its head in a way that's brilliant and wrenching and somehow still hopeful all at once. (Also, her Merlin totally deserves the Rodney McKay Brave Little Toaster Award for this. Oh, Merlin.)

Had a lovely birthday! Well, after I got off work, at any rate. Things that I got:

*2 bottles of wine

*Money from various relatives (yay for still being young/poor enough to rate that)

*Small, cute thing of flowers from my direct boss

*Crap from various people in my office for lamenting being "old" (everyone that I work with is at least 7 years older than me).

*New York Betty Boop PJ shorts from miripanda.

*AWESOME/HORRIBLE Yaoi manga from my Other Roommate M that she got free from work. Basically it's stuff that sounds like it came from a Harlequin challenge- complete with poor characterization, treacly florid writing, and borderline disturbing relationship dynamics. Plots include futuristic slaves, Arabian Sheiks who abduct their ex boyfriends back, and, my personal favorite, a touching Merman/non-Merman love story. Why would you pay money for this when you can read it for free in SGA fandom?

*Various drinks at Sing Sing, the karaoke bar we hit up that night.

*A "Desperado" serenade from Other Roommate M at said karaoke bar.

*The opportunity to sing "Breaking Free" from HSM in public to a bar full o' folks.

*Home safely at the end of the night.

*The day off work the next morning. (Thank God. Ow.)

Also, in other news, the McShep reel_sga story circa_eve and I are avoiding writing tried to grow a plot. Or something. *pokes at it sadly*

Also, GIP! New fannish obsession, HI. (Thanks st2102 for the screencap!) The Hahn and Callie kiss last Thursday? Also a bday present. Yes.

Oh God. I think I have reached a new level of procrastination, the kind only dogs can hear.

Because I just spent 15 minutes NOT finishing this paper, but rather tracking down this icon by tehjules that I saw in a comment on a gpfg_studios fic. I have so much to do tonight, and I just want this paper to be finished so I can be DONE and drink, but then I keep checking my flist and it's all downhill from there.

I'm gonna cry, kids, seriously. Or go find more porn to read.

Okay, I've had the same default icon for a while- in fact, I've had it since I got this thing, which was like, what? Three or four years ago? Anyway, time for a change. After much searching, I have finally found an icon by metatarsus that speaks to me on many levels. *pets icon, or rather doesn't, because it says not to*

Also, bored with my old layout, so I got a new one. It's pretty basic, but I'm sure I'll find time during finals to distract myself and pretty it up.

Also, RL update: Joined the rugby team here! It's awesome. Best sport ever.

Yeah, twice in one day, I know. Someone please stop me from making SGA icons.

Off to read my romance novel (The new one by Julia Quinn! She's my favorite romance novelist of all time! Wow, I'm really lame!), wait for moonblade85 to get here, and maybe watch Callum's Battlestar Gallactica ep, which I taped. Go me.

Haven't really updated in a while, mostly due to real life stuff (moving back from college, locating summer job, car crap, etc.). Another thing I've been doing is watching *koff* all (yes, all) of Season 1 of Stargate Atlantis that *koff* I downloaded onto my computer. And reading lots of fic.

Heart. Big giant heart.

I think my favorite episodes are the first four, and, well, the entire second half of the season. I know this has been said before, but I'm really enjoying the more human, everything-might-not-work-out vibe the show has.

I really love a lot of the McShep stuff, but- and maybe I'm just weird here- I think Zelenka may be my favorite character. Hee. Hope we continue to see more of him, because he's so tiny and geeky and the speaking Czech- eeeeee. July 15th cannot come soon enough, especially since I'll be heading off the the HP Book Six midnight release party directly after the new episode. My head is likely to explode from fandom overload.

Anyway, I'm going to be a good little fangirl lemming and hop on the SGA bandwagon.
